For this project, I worked with a drone technology training startup organizing a free workshop on the use of drones in construction and land surveying. Their goal was to drive registrations among students, civil engineers, and tech hobbyistsâand they needed a sequence of emails that would grab attention and convert fast.
I developed a 3-part email drip campaign:
Announcement Email: With a bold subject line and curiosity-driven preview text, this email introduced the workshop and highlighted key takeaways using bullet points.
Reminder Email: Sent two days later, this email featured a testimonial from a past participant, along with a countdown timer to increase urgency.
Last Call Email: Sent 12 hours before registration closed, this final email used FOMO (Fear of Missing Out) with phrases like âSeats are filling fast!â and âThis is your last chance to level up your drone skills.â
Each email was short, skimmable, and used persuasive elementsâlike numbers, social proof, and clear CTAs (âReserve Your Spotâ). The open rate was 45% (industry avg: ~20%) and the click-through rate was 18%, exceeding all expectations. The workshop had 120+ signups, 2x the usual.
This project sharpened my ability to write email sequences that feel human, timely, and valuableâwithout sounding like spam.
