EduMentor Investment Analysis: EdTech VC Challenge

In this simulation-based venture capital challenge, I acted as a junior investment analyst to evaluate EduMentor, an AI-powered edtech startup. I validated financial metrics such as ARR, CAC, and LTV; assessed market potential, team strength, and traction; and drafted a professional investment memo. This project sharpened my ability to combine quantitative and qualitative analysis under realistic VC conditions.

Project Overview

This project was completed as part of a structured venture capital challenge simulating real-world investment analysis. I was assigned the role of a junior investment analyst to evaluate EduMentor, an AI-powered edtech startup seeking ₹1.5 Cr in seed funding at a ₹6 Cr pre-money valuation. In Round 1, I validated key financial metrics using provided data—Annual Recurring Revenue (ARR: ₹5.994 Cr), Customer Acquisition Cost (CAC: ₹375), and Lifetime Value (LTV: ₹47,952). This laid the foundation for a deeper analysis of business fundamentals. In Round 2, I combined these financial insights with qualitative assessments of market potential, founding team credentials, and early user traction. I then drafted a 1-page investment memo in line with venture capital standards, including an executive summary, a financial metrics table, and a preliminary investment recommendation. In Round 3, I refined this into a polished, final investment memo recommending a GREEN (Invest) decision. The recommendation was backed by EduMentor's exceptional 128:1 LTV:CAC ratio, a strong founding team with Byju’s and Google experience, and early traction in a rapidly growing ₹50,000 Cr Indian edtech market. This challenge enhanced my ability to evaluate early-stage startups using both quantitative and qualitative lenses, and to communicate investment decisions with clarity and precision—critical skills in the venture capital domain.
