Queue Cure – Real-Time OPD Queue Management Platform

Hospitals and clinics often rely on manual queue management, causing long wait times, confusion about token status, and frequent interruptions at reception desks. Patients lack visibility into their position in the queue, while staff spend valuable time handling inquiries. Queue Cure solves this by providing a real-time digital queue management system that displays live token updates, streamlines patient flow, improves transparency, reduces confusion, and enhances operational efficiency in healthcare facilities. Process We began by identifying challenges in hospital queue management, including long waiting times, lack of queue visibility, and manual patient handling. To address these issues, we designed Queue Cure, a real-time digital queue management system that enables transparent token tracking and efficient patient flow. The application was developed using React for the frontend and Node.js with Express for the backend. Socket.IO was integrated to provide live updates across screens without requiring page refreshes. Key features include patient registration, current token display, queue tracking, consultation time management, and real-time synchronization. The system was tested across multiple scenarios to ensure reliability, accuracy, and an improved patient experience. Results Queue Cure digitized clinic queue management with real-time updates and live token tracking. Patients can view queue status instantly, while receptionists can manage patient flow efficiently. The system reduces confusion, improves transparency, and enhances the overall waiting experience without requiring page refreshes. Reflection Unlike traditional queue systems, Queue Cure uses real-time synchronization with Socket.IO to instantly update all connected screens without page refreshes. The solution provides separate views for receptionists and patients, includes live token tracking, estimated waiting time calculation based on consultation duration, and handles edge cases such as empty queues and invalid inputs. The focus was on creating a simple, scalable, and user-friendly healthcare queue management experience.
