Overview
Many clinics and hospitals still rely on manual token systems and paper-based appointment management, making it difficult for patients to know their queue status and estimated waiting time. Receptionists manually handle patient records and queue updates, leading to inefficiencies, longer waiting periods, and poor patient experience. There is a need for a digital solution that enables real-time queue tracking, appointment management, doctor consultation workflows, and seamless communication between hospital staff and patients. Process We analyzed the challenges faced in traditional hospital queue systems, including long waiting times, manual token management, and lack of transparency. We designed Queue Cure as a digital hospital queue and appointment management platform. The system was developed using React, Node.js, MongoDB, and Socket.IO to provide real-time queue updates. We implemented role-based access for receptionists and doctors, automated token generation, queue tracking, consultation report generation, and analytics dashboards to improve operational efficiency and patient experience. Results Queue Cure successfully digitized hospital queue management by automating token generation, enabling real-time queue tracking, and streamlining appointment workflows. The system improved queue visibility, reduced manual administrative effort, enhanced doctor-patient coordination, and generated secure digital consultation reports with QR code access. Analytics dashboards provided valuable operational insights for better decision-making and resource management. Reflection Given more time, I would integrate AI-based waiting time prediction, WhatsApp/SMS notifications, multi-hospital support, and advanced patient history management. I would also conduct real-world testing in clinics to gather user feedback, improve usability, optimize queue algorithms, and enhance accessibility for both hospital staff and patients.
