Queue Cure – Real-Time Clinic Queue Management System

Many clinics and hospitals still rely on manual queue management, causing patients to wait without knowing their position in the queue or expected waiting time. Receptionists must manually track patient flow, which can lead to confusion, delays, and poor patient experience. There is a need for a simple real-time system that improves transparency for patients while making queue management easier for clinic staff. Process We began by identifying common challenges in clinic waiting rooms, including lack of queue visibility and inefficient communication between receptionists and patients. We designed a system with two separate interfaces: a Receptionist Dashboard for managing patients and a Patient Waiting Room for viewing queue status. Next, we built a real-time communication architecture using Socket.IO to ensure that updates are instantly reflected across all connected devices. We implemented token generation, queue management, patient calling, and estimated waiting time calculations. Finally, we deployed the frontend on Vercel and the backend on Render, enabling a fully functional cloud-hosted solution. Results Queue Cure successfully provides a real-time clinic queue management experience. Receptionists can add patients, call the next patient, and manage queue flow efficiently, while patients can instantly view their queue status, current token being served, and estimated waiting time. Using Socket.IO, all updates are synchronized in real time across connected users without requiring page refreshes. The project was successfully deployed using Vercel and Render, demonstrating a complete cloud-hosted solution. Reflection Given more time, I would integrate a database to persist queue data across server restarts, implement user authentication for receptionists, and add SMS or WhatsApp notifications to alert patients when their turn is approaching. I would also enhance the analytics dashboard to provide clinics with insights into patient wait times and operational efficiency.
