Overview

Many hospitals still rely on paper tokens and manual queue management, causing long waiting times, overcrowding, and confusion for patients. Patients have no visibility into their queue status, while receptionists manually manage appointments and doctors struggle with unorganized schedules. These inefficiencies waste time, reduce patient satisfaction, and increase administrative workload. A digital, real-time queue management system is needed to improve hospital operations and patient experience. Process We began by identifying the common challenges faced in hospitals, including long queues, manual token systems, and lack of appointment visibility. Based on these findings, we designed a web-based solution with three user roles: Patient, Doctor, and Receptionist. We created separate dashboards for each user, implemented secure login, online appointment booking, digital token generation, and live queue tracking. The backend was developed using Java Spring Boot, while MySQL stores user and appointment data. We continuously tested the workflow, improved navigation, simplified the interface, and ensured smooth communication between the frontend, backend, and database. Results Queue Cure successfully digitizes hospital queue management by replacing paper-based tokens with an online appointment and token system. Patients can book appointments and monitor their queue status in real time, doctors can efficiently manage consultations, and receptionists can handle registrations and appointments through a centralized dashboard. The solution reduces waiting time, minimizes manual errors, improves workflow efficiency, and enhances the overall patient experience. The modular architecture also allows future integration with AI-based appointment prediction, notifications, and Reflection If given more time, we would integrate AI-based waiting time prediction, SMS/WhatsApp notifications for appointment reminders, emergency patient prioritization, online payment support, and a mobile application. We would also conduct user testing in real hospitals to gather feedback and further improve usability, performance, and accessibility.
