QueueCure — Smart Hospital Queue Management System
Government and private hospitals in India manage outpatient queues manually using paper tokens and verbal announcements, leading to patient confusion, long unorganized waiting times, missed calls due to language barriers, zero visibility into average waiting time per patient, and no real-time tracking for doctors or receptionists — causing operational inefficiency, overcrowded waiting areas, and poor patient experience especially in multilingual regions. Process 1.Identified Pain Points — Mapped hospital reception workflow and found breakdowns in token issuing, patient calling, wait time visibility, and language barriers. 2. Designed Architecture — React frontend, Express.js + Node.js backend, MySQL database, Socket.io for real-time updates. 3. Built Queue Engine — Token-based system for 3 specialties with configurable consultation time and dynamic per-patient wait time estimation. 4. Solved Language Barrier — Web Speech API with 10 regional languages, staff picks 3, announced sequentially like a railway PA. 5. Built Two Views — Staff reception desk (register, call, discharge, print slip) and patient lobby display (live token, rotating departments). 6. Data Management — Session-based daily reset with permanent history preservation in MySQL. Results 1. Eliminated Manual Chaos — Fully digital token issuance replaced paper tokens and verbal calling. 2. Reduced Patient Confusion — Live lobby display and wait time estimation gave patients clear queue visibility. 3. Broke the Language Barrier — Voice announcements in 10 regional languages ensured every patient heard their token in their native language. 4. Improved Reception Efficiency — Register, call, discharge, and print slips from a single screen. 5. Ensured Data Continuity — Patient history preserved permanently while daily queues reset cleanly every session. Reflection 1. Voice Engine — Replace Web Speech API with cloud TTS for reliable multilingual support without manual voice pack installation. 2. Language Limit — Allow all 10 languages simultaneously instead of being restricted to 3 at a time. 3. Password System — Replace hardcoded password with proper multi-staff login and role-based access. 4. Reset System — Add a single one-click full hospital reset instead of resetting each specialty separately. 5. Token Slip — Add WhatsApp/SMS sharing option instead of print-only.
