Overview
Many clinics and small healthcare centers still rely on paper tokens and manual queue management systems. Patients often wait for long periods without knowing their position in the queue or the estimated waiting time. Receptionists manually track patient flow, which can lead to confusion, delays, and inefficient clinic operations. The lack of real-time communication between clinic staff and patients reduces transparency and negatively impacts the overall patient experience. Process We identified the challenges of manual token systems in clinics, including long waiting times and poor queue visibility. To solve this, we designed QueueCure, a real-time queue management system with separate dashboards for receptionists and patients. Using Socket.IO, the system provides instant updates on token status, queue position, and estimated waiting time. Our goal is to improve transparency, reduce confusion, and make clinic operations more efficient. Results QueueCure successfully provides real-time queue visibility for patients and simplifies token management for receptionists. The system displays the current token, queue position, tokens ahead, and estimated waiting time with instant updates. This improves transparency, reduces patient uncertainty, and eliminates dependency on paper-based token systems while making clinic operations more efficient. Reflection Given more time, I would add appointment booking, AI-based waiting time prediction, SMS/WhatsApp notifications, and multi-doctor support. These features would further improve patient convenience and help clinics manage larger volumes of appointments efficiently.
