IPL CRUNCH '26
The IPL Crunch '26 hackathon required teams to extract meaningful, data-backed insights from 18 seasons of ball-by-ball IPL data (2008–2026) spanning 284,693 deliveries. The core challenge was not just data retrieval — it was telling a coherent story across four dimensions: does the toss matter, which phase of play decides matches, who are the all-time greats, and what hidden patterns exist in the data that conventional coverage misses? Process The entire dashboard was produced through a structured analytical and generation workflow using an AI-powered data analytics tool. Dataset ingestion & scoping. Metric computation & aggregation. Insight extraction & validation. Dashboard generation & visual design. UI enhancement & polish. Results Six concrete findings including the toss being statistically overrated, death overs being the match-deciding phase, the 17% run-rate climb since 2008, the 63% caught-dismissal insight, Kohli's extraordinary dominance, and Gujarat Titans having the highest win rate of any franchise. Reflection Start with a data quality audit. Add predictive modelling, not just descriptive stats. Deeper venue-vs-result analysis. Player comparison with context-adjusted metrics.
