Frequently asked questions

  • Who can register for BPUT Hackathon 2026?

Teams of 3-6 members from any BPUT-affiliated engineering college. Cross-departmental teams are encouraged, and each participant may be part of only one team for the entire event.

  • Can our team name reveal our college?

No. A team name must not contain your college's name, acronym, abbreviation, short form, or any other identifiable reference. This is checked at registration, and violations can lead to disqualification at any stage.

  • Can we change our problem statement after registering?

Choose carefully — problem statement changes after final registration may not be permitted. Review all 10 problem statements and their organizations before you register.

  • Can we swap team members after registering?

No addition, removal, or substitution of members is allowed after registration, except with specific approval from the organizing committee.

  • What documents do we need to submit?

A signed and stamped Authorization Letter from your Head of Institute, uploaded as a PDF (max 500 KB), named exactly Authorization_Letter_<Team_Name>.pdf.

  • How does evaluation work?

Three stages: registration screening, zone-wise mid-level evaluation (Bhubaneswar or Raurkela) across two feedback rounds plus a final scoring round, then the Grand Finale at BPUT Raurkela. The top 5 teams per problem statement advance from mid-evaluation to the finale.

  • What is provided at the Grand Finale?

Free accommodation in university hostels or guest houses, all meals and refreshments, 24x7 high-speed internet and powered workstations, and round-the-clock medical support and campus security for every finalist team.

  • Can we contact the jury during the hackathon?

No. Contacting or attempting to contact jury members about the hackathon — via LinkedIn, email, phone, or any other channel — before the official conclusion is strictly prohibited and can result in immediate disqualification of the entire team.
