The situation
Hello, and welcome to Dukaan Daily!
Every month our stores' tills send their sales, and every month it takes someone a week to stitch them together, because we bought three different till systems as we grew and each exports in its own way. The founders want the monthly pack on the 2nd, not the 9th.
So two things:
- September's KPI pack, by our definitions in the handbook: net sales, gross margin, like-for-like growth, average basket, the city that sells the most per square foot, and how each store did against August.
- Something that builds it for October in minutes when the files land: a script, a notebook, a spreadsheet that refreshes. Link it in your working.
The handbook has notes on each till's export from the last person who did this. Read them before you add anything up.
Use any tools you like, AI included. Then a short note for the founders: what September says, and what you'd watch in October.
Thanks, Farhan
When you start, you get Dukaan Daily's handbook and your own data: the same story as everyone else's, with different records, so your answers are yours alone.
What you hand in
- 1September net sales: Every store's net sales in September, in rupees (in whole rupees)
- 2Gross margin %: September's gross margin as a percent of net sales, to one decimal (a percent, to one decimal place)
- 3Like-for-like growth: Like-for-like stores, September against August, as a percent to one decimal (negative if down) (a percent, to one decimal place)
- 4Average basket: September's net sales per bill, in rupees (in whole rupees)
- 5Store trends: A table with two columns, store_id and trend, uploaded as a CSV or pasted.
- 6Best sales per square foot: Which city's stores sold the most per square foot in September?
- 7Your working: The spreadsheet, SQL or notebook that produces your answers, as a link anyone can open.
- 8A note to Farhan: 200 words at most.
- 9How you used AI: Your prompts or the chat, if you used it.
Your KPIs, your city and your store trends are checked against your own data the moment you hand in. The pass mark is 70 of 100, and September's net sales must be right. Hand in as often as you need; every hand-in is counted.
