The situation
Morning, and welcome!
We're raising our Series A, but the money won't land before January. Until then we live on what's in the bank, and the board has one rule: never close a week below ₹20,00,000.
I need a 13-week cash forecast, starting this week. From it:
- What we'll have at the end of week 4, and at the end of week 13.
- The lowest we'll get to, week by week.
- How much we'd need (raised, borrowed or cut) to never close a week below ₹20,00,000.
- The first week we'd close below ₹20,00,000, if we do nothing.
- For every open invoice, the week we can expect its money.
Our customers rarely pay on the due date, and everyone knows who's slow. Use their payment history, not hope.
Use any tools you like, AI included. And write me a short note: what should we do before that week arrives?
Thanks, Aditi
When you start, you get Pagdandi's handbook and your own data: the same story as everyone else's, with different records, so your answers are yours alone.
What you hand in
- 1End of week 4: Cash at the close of week 4 (Sunday 1 November) (in whole rupees)
- 2End of week 13: Cash at the close of week 13 (Sunday 3 January) (in whole rupees)
- 3The lowest close: The lowest of the 13 weekly closing balances (negative if we'd be overdrawn) (in whole rupees)
- 4What we'd need: How much more cash it takes for no week to close below ₹20,00,000 (in whole rupees)
- 5Receipts: A table with two columns, invoice_id and expected, uploaded as a CSV or pasted.
- 6The first week below ₹20,00,000: If we do nothing, which is the first week to close below ₹20,00,000?
- 7Your working: The spreadsheet, SQL or notebook that produces your answers, as a link anyone can open.
- 8A note to Aditi: 200 words at most.
- 9How you used AI: Your prompts or the chat, if you used it.
Your figures, your week and your receipts are checked against your own data the moment you hand in. The pass mark is 70 of 100, and the lowest close must be right. Hand in as often as you need; every hand-in is counted.
