The situation

Priya RamanFinance Manager, Tokri

Hi, and welcome to the finance team!

Your first job is the one we do every morning: the cash reconciliation for Delhi NCR, for yesterday, Tuesday 29 September.

The numbers don't match this morning. What our orders say we should have collected in cash, what the riders say they collected, and what the agency deposited are all different. I need to know by end of day:

  1. How much cash on delivery we should have collected in Delhi NCR yesterday.
  2. How much the riders reported collecting yesterday.
  3. How much the agency deposited against yesterday's collections. Only count what you can trace to one of yesterday's handovers.
  4. The gap: what we should have collected minus what was deposited.
  5. Every record that explains the gap or needs someone to look at it, and why.
  6. Your short note to me: what happened, what's still unresolved, and what we should change so this happens less.

Use whatever tools you like: a spreadsheet, SQL, Python, AI. I care that the numbers are right and that you can show how you got them. If you make an assumption, write it down.

Thanks, Priya

When you start, you get Tokri's handbook and your own data: the same story as everyone else's, with different records, so your answers are yours alone.

What you hand in

  1. 1Expected COD: Cash on delivery we should have collected in Delhi NCR on 29 September (in whole rupees)
  2. 2Rider reported: Cash the riders reported collecting that day (in whole rupees)
  3. 3Deposited: Cash the agency deposited against that day's collections (in whole rupees)
  4. 4Unreconciled: Expected minus deposited (in whole rupees)
  5. 5Exceptions: A table with two columns, record_id and cause, uploaded as a CSV or pasted.
  6. 6Your working: The spreadsheet, SQL or notebook that produces your answers, as a link anyone can open.
  7. 7A note to Priya: 200 words at most.
  8. 8How you used AI: Your prompts or the chat, if you used it.

Your figures and your exception table are checked against your own data the moment you hand in. The pass mark is 70 of 100, and the expected and deposited cash must both be right. Hand in as often as you need; every hand-in is counted.
