Overview

“Hospital-grade” is often used to describe home healthcare, but what does it actually mean? Your challenge is to turn this broad promise into a clear, measurable and evidence-backed standard for home care in India. Through five case files, you will examine existing healthcare standards, medical equipment safety, caregiver competence, early-warning systems and patient outcomes. Your final framework should be practical enough to implement, rigorous enough to defend scientifically and measurable enough to audit. The goal is not simply to write a standard—it is to design a way to prove that the standard works.

Problem statement

Create an evidence-based Hospital-Grade at Home Standard that can be used to assess the quality and safety of home healthcare.

Your solution must address:

Standards: What should “hospital-grade” home care include? Equipment: How should medical equipment be maintained, validated, monitored and retired? Caregivers: What skills should nurses and attendants demonstrate, and how should they be assessed? Clinical Monitoring: How can hospital-style early-warning systems be adapted to irregular home-care data? Proof: How can the standard be scientifically validated through a practical research study?

Your framework must ultimately answer:

Can we objectively measure whether care delivered at home is truly hospital-grade?

Deliverables

Evidence Review: 15–25 key sources with critical analysis.
CareProof Standard: Framework with pillars, indicators, thresholds and scoring methodology.
Safety & Competence Framework: Equipment lifecycle SOPs and caregiver competency standards.
Research Protocol: Study design, sample size, methodology, ethics, consent and analysis plan.
Final Submission: Pilot analysis using simulated/anonymised data + response to the surprise incident + 10-minute presentation video.
