Overview

Vishwakarma Awards 2026–27 offers students a six-month journey from idea to working prototype. Participants can explore multiple ideas, apply across different themes, and be part of multiple teams. The challenge covers health, assistive technology, AI in hardware and manufacturing, sustainable energy, sustainable mining, sustainable cities, resilience, diagnostics, and next-generation human-computer interaction. Teams will receive mentorship from IIT Indore, IIT Hyderabad, and Ashoka University. The Assistive Solutions and Inclusive Living theme is supported by EnAble India.

The brief

Objective

Build a meaningful and functional hardware solution for a real-world problem under one of the official Vishwakarma Awards themes.

Innovation Themes IIT Indore Health Tech Assistive Solutions AI in Hardware and Manufacturing IIT Hyderabad Sustainable Energy Sustainable Mining Sustainable Cities Ashoka University Physical AI for Resilience and Frontline Response Frontier Diagnostics: The Next Vital Signs HCI 2.0: Designing Interaction Beyond Chat Expected Solution

Participants should:

Identify a meaningful real-world problem Develop a practical hardware-based solution Build a working prototype Test and improve the prototype Collaborate across disciplines Present the final solution to a national jury

The solution must have a significant hardware component and be demonstrable during the final stage.
